INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

2. Two hard copies of a paper with a cover letter must be sent to the Editorial office address. If the paper is a piece of thesis, please state it in the letter. The manuscript in the Russian or English language (by the foreign authors only) must be printed in a 12-point font with the double spacing and 3.5 cm left margin on only one side of the A4 size paper.

One copy must be signed by all authors, contain their full names, and e-mail and phone number of the author for corresponding.

The electronic version (12-point ordinary Times New Roman, Arial or Tahoma; Word.doc) and a scan of the letter confirming that the international authors agree to publication must be sent to shipov3838@mail.ru; CD can be used also. The e-version must contain the text identical to that submitted as a hard copy.

3. A report on the results of experimental investigations with animals must specify species, sex, age and number of animals, anaesthetic and dosage, methods of immobilization and euthanasia, and provide reference to the approval protocol of a local or institutional review board. If the program of experiments has not been submitted to the IRB, the author must write that the investigation has been conducted in compliance with the standards for humane handling and treatment of animals. Papers presenting the results of studies (testing) with humans should mention measures ensuring safety of studies (testing) and provide reference to the IRB approval.

4. Length of editorials, reviews, speculative or debatable articles must not exceed 25 pages and of paper on experimental and theoretical studies – 15 pages. This includes text, figures (no more than 4 single photos or diagrams, or 1-2 blocks of two single ones), tables (maximum 3) and a list of references. Short communication occupies no more than 4 pages and has no figures and tables, as a rule.

5. The structure of an article comprises title, name of each author, all authors' affiliations, city and country, abstract, key words, short introduction, methods, results and discussion, conclusion, list of references. The UDC code must be placed before the title.

6. An abstract of no more than 2/3 of a page should provide understanding of the major points of an article. The abstract scheme includes definitions of the topic, object, character and purpose of an investigation; methods if they have never been published or their description is necessary for grasping the substance of the article content; main theoretical and experimental results.

7. In the text, frequently used terms and phrases may be abbreviated to the initial letters of a series of composing words provided they are introduced following the complete term or phrase. Unit measures should be abbreviated.

8. Figures (photos, diagrams) must be black-and-white and no wider than 17 cm (composite figures – 17 õ 22 cm); photos must be high-contrast with indication of the top and bottom. Digits and text must be typed in the normal Tahoma font, large and legible. Within a composite figure, each part must be designated by capital letters (À, B, C, D) in the left bottom corner. Bars must be dashed. A hard copy of the figures (photos, diagrams) must be equal to electronic in quality, magnification and size. In the electronic version, each figure must be numbered below.

Figures should not abound in words. Statistical curves should show graphically the arithmetic mean errors.

Legends must be submitted separately from the figures. Figure legends provide a brief title and a short description of all curves, letters, numbers and other symbols. Legends to micro photos should specify the filling and magnification.

9. Tables must be compact (no wider than 17 cm), printed on separate pages, have titles and serial numbering.

Avoid data duplication in the text, tables and figures.

If there is only one table or figure, it is not numbered.

10. The choice of measure units from the SI system is recommended.

11. Equations should be awarded the Arabic numerals. The equation number is enclosed in parentheses and placed at the right-hand margin. It is advised to award numbers to only those equations which are referred to.

12. Original articles are limited by citation of 20 sources at most; editorial and review articles may refer to the maximum of 50 sources. References to the author’s publications (self-citation) may constitute no more than 15% of the overall list. The author is responsible for veracity of the referenced literature. An electronic document or resource should be referenced if it has no paper publication.

In the reference list, sources are numbered sequentially in the order in which they appear in the article. In the text, references to cited publications are included in square brackets. The reference list is submitted on a separate page and prepared in the next format:

• references to two and more papers by the same author should be listed in the chronological order; papers with multiple authors (4 or more) should be listed by the first author; names of the next two authors should also be given and followed by ‘et al.’. In the case of 4 authors, each author should be included;
• references to articles in journals or proceedings are formatted as follows: author, title, 2 slashes (//), title of a journal or proceedings, slash (/), editor and city of publication, year, volume, page numbers. All elements are separated by periods (e.g., Gushchin V.I. Problems of the remote communication between isolated groups // Fiziologiya cheloveka. 2003. V. 29. ¹ 5. P. 39–46. or Îmel’yanenko N.P., Slutski L.I. The connective tissue (histophysiology and biochemisitry) / S.P. Mironov, ed. V. 1. M., 2009.);
• references to monographs should provide the author’s surname (or surnames of the authors if their number is no more than 4), title, city of publication, year (e.g., Artemieva Å.Yu. The fundamentals of subjective semantics psychology. Ì., 1999.);
• monographs written by multiple authors (more than 4) are included in the reference list by the title of a book (e.g., Seasonal dynamics of the human physiological functions / Å.R. Boiko, ed. Ekaterinbourg, 2009.);
• if no author is given but there are names of editors, compilers and translators, reference should begin with the title. Names and functions of the editor/compiler/translator should be placed after slash (e.g., Logopedia: Textbook for speech pathology students of Teacher schools / L.S. Volkova, S.Ì. Shakhovskaya, ed. 3rd ed. rev. and ad. Ì., 2002.);
• in the case of a many-volumed publication the total number of volumes must be cited;
• when a source title consists of several sentences, they all should be separated by colons;
• electronic resources must be cited in the total reference list in the order of appearance. Below are several examples of how to format reference to an e-document on a physical carrier (local e-document, including CD-ROM):

Date of access must be cited at the end of the reference.

According to ISO 26324:2012 for digital publications, it is necessary to specify the digital object identifier (DOI) providing information about the object content.

References to unpublished papers are not permitted.

13. The editors reserve the right to abridge and edit the papers accepted for publication.

Manuscripts returned to the authors for revision must be resubmitted electronically within a month with the authors’ answers to the reviewer enclosed. The day of submission is the day when the Editorial office received the final version.

14. Submission of papers that have been already published or sent for publication elsewhere is not permitted. Papers accepted by the Editorial office cannot be published elsewhere unless permitted in writing by the publisher of Aviakosmicheskaya i Ekologicheskaya Meditsina.

15. The decision to accept or decline a manuscript submitted for publication is taken by the Editorial board and final.

Veracity of the information provided in a paper is not the responsibility of the Editorial board or publisher.
